One of the cool things about the house shows (especially in the east bay) is that everyone ends up naming their house.  House shows are an awful lot of fun and can be very intimate.  So intimate that you are in constant danger of falling over into the drumset

The Hive.  The Swamp.  Wolves Den.  Riff.  Womansion.  Yellow Room.  Gingerbread House.  Bone House.  Red Hot Compound.  The Soundtank.

Sometimes it’s in the basement. Sometimes in the living room. Sometimes in the backyard. At Oakland’s Womansion it’s in what used to be a garage but is now someone’s bedroom. Imagine for a moment if you had some quality metal bands playing in your bedroom for your own birthday party

Speaking of which, San Francisco’s own Hazzard’s Cure played there a couple of months ago. Yet another sort of “all-star” band composed of members of other fine Bay Area bands. From Hazzard’s Cure’s profile page:

Clint and Leo were in Hotblack Desiato and Ankou. Clint, Leo and Chris were in Orb of Confusion. Chris was in Drink The Bleach and is still in Floating Goat. The band likes the first video above better, although I myself am particularly fond of the stretch in the 2nd video below from around 11:00 to about 12:30 or so.  Something about seeing Chris’s guitar work up close just makes me want to watch it over and over…
