Upcoming: Iron Maiden, Dream Theater
It is coming. The birds are singing. Dogs and cats are starting to get along. People are barbecuing and laughing. Certain Bay Area bloggers find it impossible to hide their enthusiasm. It must be that time again. Iron Maiden are returning to the United States. To add some prog icing on the cake, Dream Theater are coming along on the trek too. They’ll be at Sleep Train Pavillion in Concord on Sunday, June 20th. UP THE IRONS!

Yeah, scratch that enthusiasm because 11 of the 16 songs they’re playing are from Brave New World, Dance of Death and A Matter of Life and Death. There’s nothing wrong with mixing new stuff in with the old and I see why they don’t want to be a “greatest hits” touring band, but they could at least mix in more obscure 80’s era songs instead of all old or new songs every other time around.
I absolutely adore the reunion material, so this set is no problem for me. It appears as thought they are rotating Paschendale and Dance of Death, and added in Wrathchild as well. I still want my Somewhere in Time material played. Alexander the Great and Caught Somewhere in Time should be enough to please any fan.
