Laceration should change the title of their new album from “Realms of the Unconscious” to “Keepin’ It Real” – as that would be a more appropriate description for how these thrashers approach their metal. Some bands take the melodic approach with guitar harmonies and so forth, which is cool, but Laceration pretty much just beat you in the face with their guitar riffs, growling thrash vocals and syncopated drumming. Not only are the tracks crushing, but it sounds like they got some help on the production because the mix sounds way better than on their last album. But hell, don’t take my word for it (this time), go listen to the new tracks they just released and you’ll see what I mean!
The band played at the Slaughter by the Water festival last month with Toxic Holocaust and Bonded By Blood, among others, and then just last week with Warbringer and ...

The second band in this week’s Thrash dedication is the Bay Area-based band Laceration. Formed in 2006, Laceration have been playing shows throughout the Bay Area and released an E.P. in 2008 titled Consuming Reality. The band lists Death Metal as an influence, and you can hear the darkness come through in their songwriting. The production on the E.P. is pretty “vintage”, but what do you expect when you’re on a metal budget!? Although the band has gone through quite a few line-up changes over the past few years, fans can expect some more shows and new recordings in 2010.

You can purchase their E.P., Consuming Reality by contacting the band, or check them out for free on their myspace page. Laceration Thrash!
