An Examination of Exodus’ Exhibit B

An Examination of Exodus’ Exhibit B

Jury, have you reached a verdict? Yes, your Honor. How do you find the defendant, Exodus? On the charge of “death by melting the listener’s face off”; We, the Jury, find Exodus guilty as charged! I think I’ll start this review by stating the first thing that comes to mind after hearing this album: and that is the fact that Exhibit B seems to be (one of) the most “melodic” Exodus efforts to date. Sure, there is plenty of … Read entire article »

Exodus and Heathen Schedule What Appears to be a One-Off Show at Slim’s in June

Exodus and Heathen Schedule What Appears to be a One-Off Show at Slim’s in June

We just got a letter from Slim’s saying that Exodus and Heathen will be playing a show together in June, along with local metal bands Anvil Chorus and Passive Aggressive. I can’t find anything about this from Exodus or Heathen but, rest assured – there are tickets available for it! This is great because Heathen haven’t really scheduled any American tour dates and seeing Exodus, well, that’s just always fucking fun. In case you weren’t aware, … Read entire article »

Second Listen: The New Exodus is Actually F’n Awesome.

Second Listen: The New Exodus is Actually F’n Awesome.

It took me a second listen to realize how awesome the latest Exodus track, Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer), is. I heard it last week and didn’t think too much of it, but I must have had a revelation because now I can’t wait to tear it up in the pit when they perform this song. Despite all the people out there that still bitch and moan about vocals, if you ask me, Rob … Read entire article »

Epic Tales: Megadeth, Testament and Exodus in Hollywood (video, pics)

Epic Tales: Megadeth, Testament and Exodus in Hollywood (video, pics)

As much as I love hitting the open road on a beautiful California spring Wednesday morning on a trip to Hollywood, I equally hate the drive back the next day, or at night when I’m haggard and barely functioning from the night before. There are many forces at work against one, that is, should one decide to make a road trip – the main obstacle of course, being money. Nevertheless, Megadeth, Testament and Exodus skipping … Read entire article »

Exodus “Exhibit B” Artwork Is Killer

Exodus “Exhibit B” Artwork Is Killer

Bravo to the guy who designed this cover! This is how an Exodus album cover is supposed to look! Unsurprisingly, Gary Holt loves it too: To me, the artwork represents man and his affinity for bloodshed, ignorance, and all-around ability to be led like sheep to the slaughter. The image fits the songs on this record perfectly. The whole layout is going to as sick as the record itself! For reference, here’s the cover from Exhibit A. It’s … Read entire article »

Toxic Bootlegs: Exodus, Arch Enemy and Arsis.

METAL FUCKING MONDAY! Arch Enemy, Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within steam-rolled through San Francisco last night at the Grand Ballroom. I have mixed feelings about this place, but most of them lean towards that one feeling, what’s it called? Oh yeah – MURDER. As in, “I want to murder everyone that works here.” So many rules! “Don’t stand here.” “No video allowed.” “4 dollars for water.” on and on and on. It’s like, with all these rules in place you’d think there would at least be awesome sound, but of course, it’s the complete fucking opposite. For such a grand ballroom their sound blows grand ball sacks. I missed Mutiny Within because the Bay Bridge had traffic and because I’m always late. Arsis had a pretty good set list, but the … Read entire article »

Megatestodus skipping the Bay!?!

Megatestodus skipping the Bay!?!

I’m sure you’ve heard of the “Rust in Peace” tour by now – but just in case you haven’t – it’s Megadeth, Testament and Exodus. Awesome, right!? Wrong. The only show in California is in Los Angeles. It seems like there’s a new story every day, in some form or another, about how awesome these concerts are going to be. Which is why it’s so frustrating when shows are cancelled, postponed, or not anywhere near … Read entire article »

Weirdest Song Debut, Ever.

So, Exodus have been doing live chats all week while they record their new album, The Atrocity Exhibition – Exhibit B, and this weekend they decided to debut a new song via this ustream website. The song is pretty rocking, but it’s funny because it’s basically just Rob Dukes sitting in front of his web cam staring at you and like, wondering what to say. He finally decides to rock out at the end of the video, but otherwise he’s just sitting there drinking from a coffee mug, looking all bored. On another note, nice Murderface t-shirt. … Read entire article »

Behind the Scenes Shenanigans with Exodus

Exodus posted some footage of them recording their sequel to last year’s album, The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A. This album is appropriately titled Exhibit B. They have the mighty Andy Sneap (the guy is famous for producing awesome metal albums) helping out with recording. There aren’t a whole lot of new riffs heard in the video, but you’ll hear Gary Holt say that their goal with this album was to “crush everything and make everything else obsolete”, so it’s pretty much guaranteed that Exodus fans won’t be disappointed with The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit B. … Read entire article »
