For those of us that never got to experience one of the greatest metal tours in the history of the world, imagine Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, Death Angel and Alice in Chains all in one tour. Quite a line-up, eh?
Guitar World recently got Dave Mustaine, Kerry King, Scott Ian, Eric Peterson, Rick Ernst and Rob Cavestany together for their February 2010 issue to talk about the legendary Clash of the Titans tour, which happened during 1990-1991. This article is absolutely a must-read. It’s as entertaining as it is informative. Kerry King calling Dave Mustaine a “pompous ass”, Tom Araya yelling “Satan Rules Your Soul” while Chuck Billy is getting stitches in the hospital, Pantera almost edging out Alice in Chains for the last spot, Kerry King talking about how even he hated Alice at the time, describing how Alice got pelted every night by the audience with everything ...

It’s finally fucking happening. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax are playing at the same show together! Fuck yeah! Metal is back! I can finally die a free person! What’s that? They’re only playing in Poland and the Czech Republic? What the hell is the Czech Republic? Where’s Czechoslovakia? I’m American, I don’t have time to keep up with all these things.

My first reaction to this news is one of excitement, followed obviously by sheer disappointment. However, now that I think about it, the Megadeth, Slayer and Testament tour next month is actually going to be way better. Why? For several reasons:
No one under 35 cares about Anthrax.
Testament shreds all over the place.
When you add Metallica to the bill, the ticket price goes up about $100.
The ONLY news that people will talk about is the Metallica / Megadeth feud.
I have been known to be wrong on occasion. So, I ask ...

A story broke last week that I forwarded on twitter about another supergroup featuring Anthrax guitar player Scott Ian. It’s no secret that Ian has been whoring himself out for pursuing cash now for quite some time, and I can’t really say that I blame him. However, it’s a little hard to get excited about anything that the guy is involved in. He’s not like an awesome guitar player or anything. Anthrax was alright, but they’re not all that. I had to stop following him on twitter because the only thing he posted was his poker score from whatever damned internet gambling site he uses. Don’t get me wrong, the guy is alright, but I mean let’s be real – this isn’t a “supergroup”, let alone a “metal supergroup”.

Members of Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die andAnthrax have joined forces to create a metal supergroup called The Damned Things.FOB’s Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley ...
