#4 – One Hundred SunsBeneath the Hooves of Time

Another unsigned band has made it to our list. Don’t let that fool you though – the production and mixing on this album holds up, without sacrificing any brutality. Amidst the sea of retro-rock out there, it’s nice to see some death and black metal punching through the mix. Foregoing the white corpse paint, One Hundred Suns blasts, grinds and growls over melodic guitars and epic song motifs in their sophomore album Beneath the Hooves of Time.

Coming in at only 6 tracks long, Beneath the Hooves of Time manages to unleash ‘Suns arsenal of doom and death quite well. The track Destroyer of Worlds is a 2 and a half minute death metal salvo, while tracks like To Extinguish Into The Earth and Lords of War take the listener on some epic black metal journeys. Mad props to vocalists Iain Deaderick and Kevin Clark – the vocals sound especially screeching, guttural and brutal.

To make a long story short, these guys are fucking good. If there were 45 minutes of music on this album they might have the #1 spot. However, if the band keeps going the way they are, they won’t have anything to worry about in 2010. Check out the band’s myspace page to hear a few tracks from the album.

Come back tomorrow to see the San Francisco band making waves all over the interwebs in our #3 spot!

Dan Spiteri is the owner and main shenanigan distributor of Bay Area Metal Scene. When he's not blasting his hearing into oblivion, you can find him doing "outdoorsy" stuff like skiing, bike riding and drinking cheap beer.

Haha – Very Cool ! That’s so cool they made it to #4 !

I noticed that Matt Luque(guitarist) and Max Fink(drummer) weren’t mentioned, so wanted to thank them as well !

Even if someone has grown up on Rock, with all of its deep & often esoteric lyrics, you very may well not realize what you’re missing by not listening to a band like One Hundred Suns, closely.

You realize One Hundred Suns is a band that Is Not in the category we refer to as Rock music although it’s roots are In Rock – where this genre has very deep, often very political lyrics and very fast guitars and unfortunately, often ignored by the mainstream. There are very important meanings if you care about the planet & how we will survive the attempted “New World Order” to enslave our poor little asses !

We who know better – need to listen to each other as this is not the time for having our feet drug into the abyss of some out-of-control elitists groups with their wacko wishes and intentions. This is a time where we need open our eyes and talk with our mouths about what we see coming and I for one, am happy there are people who think as I do and can talk through music, the best communication that we have

So let’s eat a bit of Horus and pull out those peace pipes ! This is the time we need bands like One Hundred Suns and the rest of the world needs us to be listening !
You can look at their lyrics a happy mushroom in bloom or a nightmarish mushroom cloud – Everyone either helps or hinders on creating the world we wish to leave behind.

Lets keep our eyes open and our mouths talking !
And Thanks to One Hundred Suns for keeping us awake !
