Slaughter Of the Bluegrass Bring Some Death to the Banjo Scene

Slaughter of the Bluegrass is a Swedish bluegrass band that takes Death Metal songs and “bluegrass-ifies” them. This kind of thing has been done before, but what can I say – I’m easily amused. I just listened to bluegrass versions of songs by Amon Amarth, At the Gates and Dark Tranquility. If anything, this band may be a good “gateway” band to luring in others from outside the metal world…

Slaughter of the Bluegrass is a band that plays unplugged versions of death metal songs. We use traditional bluegrass instruments and arrangement ideas and try to keep the essence of each song we cover.

People ask us why we choose to play metal songs, and we answer them that we just want to play good songs, which in this case happens to be in that particular genre. As it turned out, people who aren’t used to hearing growling vocals, guitars drenched is distorsion and heavy drums, could still appreciate these compositions, only in a new form.

Dan Spiteri is the owner and main shenanigan distributor of Bay Area Metal Scene. When he's not blasting his hearing into oblivion, you can find him doing "outdoorsy" stuff like skiing, bike riding and drinking cheap beer.
