New Thrash Bands Have a Role Model in Vektor

This nu-thrash trend that had taken metal by storm recently, has it’s prominent fellows that don’t really change much.  Let’s face it, bands like Warbringer write some really fun thrash tunes, and (supposedly) have a great live show to boot, but they do not by any means rewrite the thrash metal book.  One band that has done just that, is Phoenix’s Vektor.  Their 2009 release, Black Future, is an astonishingly fresh piece of metal.  It becomes pretty apparent in the first track that this band means business.  David Disanto (guitar/vox) has a Show No Mercy era Araya falsetto that will make the hairs on the back of your neck creep.  This album’s riffs school any thrash band out there today, and even compete with your classic 1980’s bands.  It’s rare where you find a band who can thrash your face off and be technical, progressive and consistent the whole way through.  Simply put, no album has left me quite as exhausted in one listen since Morbid Saint.  Vektor have been on tour for the last few weeks promoting Black Future, playing shows all over the country.  Apparently they had booking issues with Bay Area, which is a serious shame.  With luck, these guys will make it here soon, and dominate the Bay Area with their version of perfectly executed thrash metal.

A good Thrash Metal Band is Concrete Coffin. The guitarist puts most metal leads to shame. Mobias is the shit. Totally under-represented amazing band.
