Tom Araya of Slayer has to get some back surgery done this month, consequently ending post-poning the American Carnage tour run. It just donned on me that metal is really starting to show its age. It’s only a matter of time before we start hearing about hip-replacement surgeries and the crazy “oat bran lifestyle” of aging metal musicians. A lot of dudes are in their 50’s and 60’s already. That’s right – 50’s and 60’s! I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a larger, yet-to-come decade of “post-poned” tours. I mean, you can’t blame the guys for still wanting to rock out into their golden years, but it’s just a fact of life: our heroes are getting older.

Mustaine, however, will probably retain his boyish-charm well into his 90’s.
