Second Listen: The New Exodus is Actually F’n Awesome.
It took me a second listen to realize how awesome the latest Exodus track, Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer), is. I heard it last week and didn’t think too much of it, but I must have had a revelation because now I can’t wait to tear it up in the pit when they perform this song. Despite all the people out there that still bitch and moan about vocals, if you ask me, Rob Dukes sounds pretty bad-ass.

Some loyal “purist” fans of a particular band only recognize a band with their certain (usually older or “original”) vocalist as being the “real” band. Anything else is just not “them” anymore.
Some of us on the other hand feel that if a newer vocalist is good enough, then it is worth the band continuing, even if the sound is slightly “different”, it can still be that same band and still be VERY MUCH worth continuing the tradition of that band’s music.
Case in point, the AC/DC “fans” who don’t (err, won’t) recognize anything after Highway To Hell. For them, if it isn’t Bon Scott on vocals, then it isn’t AC/DC.
Well, guess what? To some of us who consider ourselves loyal (and genuine) AC/DC fans, the song “HELLS BELLS” is one of the frakking BEST songs in the history of Rock And Goddamn Roll. A metal ANTHEM for a whole generation.
The new Exodus may be a little different, but it is GOOD.
