Kerry King Was Almost In Megadeth?

Local metal blogger umlaut posted a rather interesting letter this weekend. The letter details the early days of Megadeth, right around the time Dave Mustaine was putting together the band. As you’ll read in the letter, Slayer’s very own axe-man Kerry King was a top consideration for the spot as lead guitar player. Maybe some of you already knew this, but I had no clue. Can you imagine!?

Dan Spiteri is the owner and main shenanigan distributor of Bay Area Metal Scene. When he's not blasting his hearing into oblivion, you can find him doing "outdoorsy" stuff like skiing, bike riding and drinking cheap beer.

Man, that would have been TERRIBLE. Kerry King does NOT have the chops to be in Megadeth.

Oh come on. It’s not like Chris Poland or Marty Friedman could play that well. O_o

haha, yeah, those guys suck. Kerry could teach them a thing or two about dissonant whammy bar/wah-wah random note solos.

I think King is a better fit for Slayer’s music than Megadeth’s.
