Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth announced today that he has been working on a solo album for the past several months called “Sons of Liberty”. He’ll be promoting the album this Friday on the Alex Jones radio show. If you’ve never heard of Alex Jones, he’s a Glenn Beck type conservative radio host that drums up a lot of fear and controversy against the President. His latest video on youtube is a slam against global warming and health care reform. Luckily, Jones has access to great minds and brings in Chuck Norris to help clarify why America is heading down the wrong path. Seriously. Chuck Norris, as in Kara-ta-ta-te Chuck Norris.

Anyways, the album will be available for download free from www.sons-of-liberty.net (right now it’s pretty much just a blank web page). Schaffer had this to say:

My desire is for Sons of Liberty to become part of a much larger movement that is happening around the world. This new website will be a think-tank containing lots of interesting web-links, book and movie recommendations, and much more. This will be an ongoing process, so check back often.

I care very much about what is happening in our world, we’ve been steamrolling down this road for a long time, so I assure you this is not a politically biased message.

So, let me get this straight: Schaffer, working on a solo album for the “past few months”, names it the “Sons of Liberty”, wants it to be a “think-tank” for “interesting” ideas, and is announcing the project on the Alex Jones show, but it’s not a “politically biased message”? Caaammoonnn.
