Another Supergroup Featuring Scott Ian

A story broke last week that I forwarded on twitter about another supergroup featuring Anthrax guitar player Scott Ian. It’s no secret that Ian has been whoring himself out for pursuing cash now for quite some time, and I can’t really say that I blame him. However, it’s a little hard to get excited about anything that the guy is involved in. He’s not like an awesome guitar player or anything. Anthrax was alright, but they’re not all that. I had to stop following him on twitter because the only thing he posted was his poker score from whatever damned internet gambling site he uses. Don’t get me wrong, the guy is alright, but I mean let’s be real – this isn’t a “supergroup”, let alone a “metal supergroup”.

Members of Fall Out BoyEvery Time I Die andAnthrax have joined forces to create a metal supergroup called The Damned Things.

FOB’s Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have teamed up with ETID’s Keith Buckley and Anthrax’s Scott Ian andRob Caggiano in what could be one of rock’s most unusual comings together in recent history!

Wow, that sounds like an abortion waiting to happen! Fall out Boy and Anthrax are teaming-up to tell everyone that they’re a metal supergroup!

Remember the last supergroup that Ian was in? Damnocracy? Destroy your ears with these uninspired tracks (I blame Ted Nugent).

Damnocracy: Milfs and camaro driving rednecks need music too.

Supergroups, as awesome as they sound in your mind, usually end up being a huge steaming pile of shit. There are exceptions, of course. Here’s what a real metal supergroup looks like:

Dan Spiteri is the owner and main shenanigan distributor of Bay Area Metal Scene. When he's not blasting his hearing into oblivion, you can find him doing "outdoorsy" stuff like skiing, bike riding and drinking cheap beer.

This has fail written all over it. I like Scott Ian because he seems like a cool, down to earth guy, but he’s not that great of a guitarist, Anthrax wasn’t (isn’t) that good, and Fall Out Boy can lick my penis.
