No, we shouldn't take it...unless it's offered! :)

The issue is that for some people the technology is the solution, rather than the problem. Many small-time artists have been able to stay alive simply because they could distribute their content for free on the internet.

I think technology is to blame, but only in the sense that it has enabled the music industry to be flooded with competition. It wasn't the mp3 revolution that broke the camel's back, it was the 100 million other bands that joined the party.

Great article, some really good points brought up. This is such an interesting issue to discuss because no one knows what the hell is going to happen. Its the technology that made this a problem. If digital media never developed to this point, then this wouldn't be an issue. But since it has become so easy to distribute product via the internet, what some might call "stealing" has really just become mass "sharing". At this point, its a moral or philosophical issue. Just because its available, does that mean we should take it?

Some info, if you don't mind:
59 euros = cc. 80 USD
I think this price for 3 days full of great live music, including accommodation is not bad. The Hungarian Fest could be even cheaper, though, preordered tickets (incl. camp) cost HUF 9.900 which is about USD 50. You may guess when the 1000 pcs of this kind of tickets got sold out :D
Note the comparison: Metallica concert in Budapest, May 2010 costs around HUF 20.000 (cc. USD 100).

So far this MetalFest Open Air has been called the event of the century for Hungary as we're always just glancing full of envy when recognizing how many great shows go on all over the world except our little country. Finally we're getting it :)
Of course, we're still envious of Prague and Warsaw as the Big Four will perform there in June and they don't seem to come here :(

Totally. This show is going to be an interesting mix of SF hipsters and Oakland doombringers. Stoked to see Black Cobra, HOF and Mastodon tear the roof off the joint though.
