Future Prog

The Bay Area has a new progressive metal band (well, new to me), and they have a few heavy hitters laying down some powerful progressive tunes. Future’s End, which features familiar names like Steve DiGiorgio (bass) and Jon Allen (drums), released their album Memoirs of a Broken Man last year and it recently was voted the #1 progressive metal album in 2009 by USA Progressive Music Magazine. It goes without saying then, that fans of Symphony X, Dream Theater and Jag Panzer will dig Future’s End.

Despite the accolades, they haven’t played too many shows, perhaps because they are involved in multiple projects. The next show will be in Concord at the Jeff Baker benefit concert. In the meantime, hear some of their new songs on their myspace page.

Dan Spiteri is the owner and main shenanigan distributor of Bay Area Metal Scene. When he's not blasting his hearing into oblivion, you can find him doing "outdoorsy" stuff like skiing, bike riding and drinking cheap beer.

  1. Hey all! This is Christian from Futures End.
Thanks for the cool write up. We appreciate it!
Just wanted to say that we haven’t played any Bay Area shows yet because Freddy lives in Texas, but we did play Progpower USA X in Atlanta last year, and have dates scheduled all over the country and in some tentative dates in Europe this year. We have been contacted by Dave from BARFest and asked to play this year as well.
We are playing the Jeff Baker Benefit show in March at Vinnie’s in Concord. It is a very small venue, but it is for a great cause. All of the money from the door will be dontated to the Bay Area chapter of Guitars not Guns. Most of us also knew Jeff Baker and are honored to be a part of this event. Details will be posted on our website at http://www.futuresendmusic.com this weekend.

    Thanks again!
