Kids Along the Mississippi

Posted February 25th, 2010 by DS Videos

I was in a cover band many years ago, we called ourselves Sackrash. All two shows we played were legendary…amongst us. We played stuff like AIC, Metallica, STP and Down. Stone The Crow was our bread and butter.

These kids may sound way better than we ever did, but at least I’m old enough to buy beer!

I’m going to give you the keys to the Lamborghini

Why Michael Angelo is better than you:

  • Can make a career with non-stop guitar shredding.
  • Not afraid to sport a Gold’s Gym tank-top, despite lack of working out.
  • Has a tattoo on right arm of custom signature guitar.
  • People expect him to have a ridiculous hair cut.

Bootlegs: Nile, Krisiun, Immolation

Posted January 31st, 2010 by DS Videos

Finally! It’s been a long time coming, but I finally got to see Nile. Actually, it seems like everyone got to see Nile – it was a sold out show! I really wanted to see Krisiun as well, so I got to kill to birds with one stone.

Nile were crushing. I love how epic and thematic their shows are. Dallas needs a little work on his stage banter between songs, but otherwise they worked the crowd into nothing less than a voracious frenzy. Immolation were pretty awesome, but admittedly, I don’t know as much about them as I probably should. Krisiun were just as heavy as I thought they’d be, although the crowd wasn’t at capacity at this point and wasn’t as loud as it could’ve been. Dreaming Dead I missed because I’m always showing up friggin’ late, but I heard some folks talking about them outside and they were pretty stoked.

As usual, here are some bootlegs to remember the occasion:

What Instrument Do You Play? I can play LASERS.

Posted January 27th, 2010 by DS Videos

So, I came across some website where Dave Ellefson (Megadeth, Hail) is promoting some product called BEAMZ. Apparently it’s an “instrument” composed of a bunch of laser beams (ohh, I get the name now) that allow you play pre-recorded music.

Sounds cool, right? Lasers! Music! DAVE ELLEFSON! What more do you need!?!

Cue token white family!

On second thought, maybe I’ll just save up money for Rock Band.

Sweet Old-School Cynic Video from 94

The legendary Cynic live in Berkeley during the summer of 1994 (06/24/94) on their tour-support for Cannibal Corpse and Sinister (keyboards/growls by Dana Cosley).

I can’t get enough of these guys.

Notice the credits at the end? I wonder if these vids were pieced together from California shows…

Krisiun’s Video for Sentenced Morning Keeps it Old School

Posted January 11th, 2010 by DS Videos

Brazilian death metal 3-piece Krisiun are rolling through San Francisco on January 30th in support of Nile on the Those Whom the Gods Detest Tour. Hopefully the city won’t be left in ruins after they crush everything into oblivion. They just released a video for the track Sentenced Morning from the Southern Storm album and, as you’ll see, is pretty much like all of Krisiun’s other videos: loud, fast and with a nod to the old-school.

High Def Metallica Bootlegs From San Jose

Posted December 17th, 2009 by DS Videos

You’ve no doubt seen a bunch of bootleg vids from this past Metallica tour. Bay Area metal head dogtired75 sent this video in of the band performing the song “One”, in what is perhaps the highest quality bootleg we’ve ever seen. Nice job!

Side-bar: I bet Lars has a pretty nice tan after being in the middle of all those flames for the past few months.
