Laceration should change the title of their new album from “Realms of the Unconscious” to “Keepin’ It Real” – as that would be a more appropriate description for how these thrashers approach their metal. Some bands take the melodic approach with guitar harmonies and so forth, which is cool, but Laceration pretty much just beat you in the face with their guitar riffs, growling thrash vocals and syncopated drumming. Not only are the tracks crushing, but it sounds like they got some help on the production because the mix sounds way better than on their last album. But hell, don’t take my word for it (this time), go listen to the new tracks they just released and you’ll see what I mean!
The band played at the Slaughter by the Water festival last month with Toxic Holocaust and Bonded By Blood, among others, and then just last week with Warbringer and ...

I’m writing a review for an album I haven’t even fully heard yet, I’m that confident.
Miseration’s new album The Mirroring Shadow is the follow-up album to Your Demons – Their Angels, which was not a bad album, but wasn’t really an album that I could listen to over and over. It was closer to metal-core than I would’ve liked – it definitely doesn’t sound as epic and varied as Shadow does. Basically take epic Black Metal themes, combined with Bloodbath-esque riffs and Christian Älvestam’s brutal vocals and you have Miseration’s latest album.
Älvestam is just one of those guys that can do it all vocally – he can sing clean or growl like a beast. Miseration only features the latter – but when I saw him with Scar Symmetry two years ago he tore it up. Not to mention he was funny as hell after the show, talking it up with ...

So, Exodus have been doing live chats all week while they record their new album, The Atrocity Exhibition – Exhibit B, and this weekend they decided to debut a new song via this ustream website. The song is pretty rocking, but it’s funny because it’s basically just Rob Dukes sitting in front of his web cam staring at you and like, wondering what to say. He finally decides to rock out at the end of the video, but otherwise he’s just sitting there drinking from a coffee mug, looking all bored. On another note, nice Murderface t-shirt.

Richard Christy’s (Death, Iced-Earth) new band, Charred Walls of the Damned (check out their myspace page) just released their first single, Ghost Town. If you didn’t know, Ripper Owens is on vocals, Steve Digorgio is on bass, and producer Jason Suecof is playing guitar. Christy left Iced Earth a few years ago to join the Howard Stern show, I was actually at his last concert in L.A. So, I’m not quite sure where this band is heading, but it’s pretty inevitable that the guy plays music, he’s just too friggin’ good on drums not to! They’re signed to Metal Blade so I assume that they’ll at least play a few shows here and there. Their debut album is set to release in February 2010. If Ghost Town is any indication of the album, then it’s going to be pretty bad-ass!
CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED was produced by Jason Suecof and recorded ...

Ok, making fun of Arnold Schwarzeneggeregererr was funny about 7 years ago, but now it’s just getting old. You already have ArnoCorp, Austrian Death Machine and now Schwarzenator? Please tell me this is a prank. From blabbermouth:
SCHWARZENATOR — the self-proclaimed “ultimate Arnold Schwarzenator concept band” featuring guitarist Shane Gibson (KORN) and Rhythm magazine’s “Best Drummer in the World,” Austrian-bornThomas Lang, will showcase their debut EP, “Schwarzenator”, at West Hollywood, California’s Key Club on the Sunset Strip on Monday, December 7 at 10:00 p.m.
Melding comedy, irony and a healthy dose of parody with virtuoso musicianship, SCHWARZENATOR manages to lampoon California Governor,Arnold Schwarzenegger’s finest film offerings — ranging from“Kindergarten Cop” to the “Terminator” franchise — while rocking audiences to their endoskeletons.

Wow! A heavy metal parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies. How original!
