Hoglan Invades Fear Factory

Blabbermouth just posted a link to the new Fear Factory track, “Powershifter“. According to the article, the new drummer is none other than “Mr. Atomic Clock”, Gene Hoglan.  The article undoubtedly prompted thousands to then ask, “What friggin’ band ISN’T Gene Hoglan in!?” “Powershifter”, a brand new song from the new band calling itself FEAR FACTORY — featuring original FF members Dino Cazares (guitar) and Burton C. Bell (vocals) alongside bassist Byron Stroud (who played on the last two FEAR FACTORY albums in addition to touring and recording with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and ZIMMERS HOLE) and legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (DETHKLOK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, DARK ANGEL, DEATH, TESTAMENT) — can be streamed below. Here is the original article. … Read entire article »

Friday Metal to Drink Beer To

Friday Metal to Drink Beer To

It’s no secret that beer and metal go together like, well, beer and metal. Tankard (Germany) and Drunkard (Greece) are teaming up in a few weeks to play a show together, in what I can only guess will end up being an exhibition in drunkery and tomfoolery. Both bands obviously “likey the drinkey”, but their styles are a bit different. Tankard sticks to the more traditional German metal rock sound and Drunkard is more or … Read entire article »

Ozzy Might as Well Just Keep Zakk

In case you didn’t know, Ozzy is looking for a new guitar player…or something. The supposed person to take the throne as Ozzy’s right-hand axe is this guy named “Gus G”. from a band called Firewind. To which I say, “What the hell, Ozzy?” You already have shredding guitar player that uses a wah pedal and plays pentatonic scales, not to mention a rad beard. … Read entire article »

One Hundred Suns

One Hundred Suns

Death / Black / Ambient metal band One Hundred Suns has been making the rounds in the local club circuit for the past few years. Currently unsigned, the band put out an album earlier this year called Beneath the Hooves of Time that sounds pretty awesome, considering that fact. I really dig their hybrid style, which varies from crushing black metal to thrash beats to melodic riffs. The band is playing tomorrow night in the city … Read entire article »

Nile – Those Whom the Gods Detest

Nile – Those Whom the Gods Detest

How can I say this…this album blows. Seriously. Oh, and by “blows” I mean “Blows all other metal albums into oblivion with the sheer firepower of its awesomeness“. “Gods” is further proof of how Nile continue to out-do themselves. Without a doubt, Nile is seated firmly at the top of the Death Metal genre by virtue of their technical prowess, epic songwriting and utter magnitude with which they put everything together. Those Whom the Gods Detest … Read entire article »

Fallujah

Fallujah

Fans of “tech-death” and bands like The Faceless, Severed Savior and Dying Fetus will dig the sound of Fallujah. The band hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and will be playing a few shows throughout the end of the year. I’m not sure why I haven’t heard of these guys sooner, but I will definitely be keeping track. Check out their myspace page. … Read entire article »
